Abstract

The secondary correction of cleft lip and nasal deformities still presents a diffecult plastic surgical problems.
Asymmetry of the nostrils is one of the characteristic deformities of the cleft lip nose. The contributing factors are believed to be the maldevelopment and/or underdevelopment of soft tissues, as well as the supporting framework.
Skin web of alar rim near hasal tip is one of the frequent findings in cleft lip-nose deformities. There has been known many correction methods of this in secondary cleft lip nose operation, and we have found it is desirable to advance forward the retroplaced nostril through reverse-W excision.
For the past 1 year we have used the Reverse-W excision procedure in 6 cases of secondary repair of cleft lip nose deformity, with satisfactory results in most of them.
